Grab your shovels and get counting. A reported $10,000 in dice ended up all over Interstate 75 in Atlanta recently and they rolled a perfect 756,000!
According to Trivium studios, a truck carrying loads of Chessex gaming dice took a turn for the worse. Almost half of its payload tipped out the back and busted all over the highway!
The Accidental Largest Dice Roll of All Time
Just over 200,000 dice, estimated to be about $10,000 worth of product, came tipping out onto the highway. It doesn’t matter if you see this as a Tau “For the Greater Good” overwatch. Or maybe an Ork melee phase…this is A LOT of dice. With an average roll of 7 on 2D6, the overall total came to be about 756,000. Imagine getting that many auto hits with your flamer.
On Friday afternoon in Atlanta, our truck, which was carrying three palettes of Chessex dice for an upcoming game, took a turn a little too sharply. Roughly half the dice spilled across the interstate. About 216,000 individual dice were lost, making this the largest unofficial dice roll in history. So, what did we roll? For the r/theydidthemath crowd and based on the probability that most two-dice rolls average out to 7, we statistically rolled around a 756,000! And the last dice picked up was a 6 (as seen in the video).
Interestingly enough, the dice were actually meant for a specific game!
Trivium’s representative says the company, which plans to unveil the game associated with all of these dice closer to its planned early 2020 launch, maintains a positive attitude. “Though unfortunate it happened, nobody got hurt and we now own an unofficial world record for the largest dice roll in history!”
The dice were all a mix of blue, black, and white. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these dice to make a reappearance for the mentioned game. Despite having a little hiccup on the freeway, the dice were salvaged as much as possible.
Measuring this all in Warhammer terms, that looks to be the rough amount of dice that it takes to kill a single Custode with a boltgun.
