New 40k rules look to be on the way for Space Marines as spearhead rumors of new supplements and pictures of the Vanguards are already here.

Ultramarines have been at the epicenter of a new supplement rumor and after seeing a datasheet from Primaris Sergeant Jovan, it looks like they, along with other Chapters could be getting their existing rules expanded on. Let’s take it from the top!

RUMORS: Another Space Marine Supplement Coming Soon

Here’s what an industry insider had to say:

Second Marine supplement coming in 2019. G man’s boys getting an Ultramarines supplement, datacards, etc. soon…

While there’s a little meat to this rumor, the door is still wide open for guesses on what further supplements could be.

What we DO know is that Ultramarines have been growing in popularity on the competitive scene as Robbie G lists are consistently hovering around the top of the meta. We aren’t really seeing any other Chapters appear all too often. So with even more Ultramarines support possibly inbound, it’s exciting to see what “supplements” turns into.

If this pans out to be a codex, this will be their first wholely stand-alone rules set since 1995!

The “supplement” could also entail Chapter-specific Primaris units similar to the Victrix Guard or maybe something simple like dice, datacards, etc. However, one important thing to keep in the back of your mind is that this is all just a rumor for now.

Datasheet Previewed With Sergeant Jovan Shows Mystery Rule

sergeant jovan

Coming from Miniwars, this datasheet was spotted inside of Sergeant Jovan’s box. If you take a look at what we’ve highlighted, there’s no They Shall Know No Fear rule. Rather, some mysterious ability called Angels of Death.

There are two ways of going about this. It could be that:

  • This is just a simple rules typo

or

Current Primaris Datasheet, note ATSKNF rule.

On top of the mystery rule, there is another headscratcher. Jovan, while named, is still just a regular Primaris Sergeant who will probably be free to join any Chapter. Mainly because Sergeants aren’t characters and don’t have any special skills.

That being said, if this Angels of Death rule was supposed to be a part of the rumored Ultramarines supplement only, then why has it appeared on a regular <Chapter> Intercessor datasheet?

Also, note the new hand flamer option for the sergeant as well. Which may be what this rumor engine represents from January 2019.

While there have been some questions raised, there are some undeniable facts. Those being that Angels of Death may have replaced/absorbed They Shall Know no Fear and that something deeper could be going on behind the scenes for Space Marines…

What do you think about this new rule popping up? Do you remember the Angels of Death Supplements from years ago?
