Southern Showdown: Top Warhammer 40k Homebrew Army List

40k-homebrew-army-listsOrks still got it in competitive play as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at the Southern Showdown!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

Southern Showdown: Tarzan – Orks 5th Place

Tarzan 1Tarzan’s 5th place Orks feature a 2 list set up with the first being a patrol led by a Beastboss on Squigosaur, which is a fantastic solo model but has the added benefit of buffing nearby Beast Snagga models (which will appear later in the list. Troops bring in 10 boyz for some cheap bodies that can deal some minor damage.

Elites have a 5-man Meganob squad which are flexible models with great stat lines for both melee and ranged options. Fast Attacks bring in 6 Stormboyz to round out points and give access to another mobile threat.

Closing out the Patrol is a Trukk, which can transport a few models and put out a few extra shots every round.

Tarzan 2

The second detachment is an Outrider led by a second Beastboss on Squigosaur along with a Weirdboy, who provides some good psychic power access like the infamous “Da Jump”.

Jumping straight into Elites again there are a total of 12 Kommandos, who while slightly worse than Meganobs, are still great options with flexible usage.

Tarzan 3

Fast Attacks then bring in the heat with 8 DeffKoptas which are mobile threats that can effectively chip damage on a huge variety of targets every turn from the skies. The other big include here is 15 Squighog Boyz, which both Beastbosses help to buff up and make more efficient as they trample across the battlefield.

Finally closing out the list is a Mega Dread, which has great melee power and a decent ranged anti-armor weapon to boot.
