There’s been a lot of rumors going around about the reprint of FFG’s Star Wars Destiny. Come see what FFG has to say about current and future releases!
Fantasy Flight Games had an instant success with the release of Star Wars Destiny. Since the release in December the starter and booster packs have been selling out faster than they can print them. Well rest assured! There’s going to be another push of starters and boosters before the release of the new boosters: Spirit of the Rebellion.
Resupply Incoming
We have ordered a final limited print run of the Awakenings booster packs, arriving at retailers in June. After this print run, there will be no further printings of the Awakenings booster packs. Additional copies of the Kylo Ren Starter Set and the Rey Starter Set are already in production, and these products will remain in print until the next starter sets are available (see below for additional details).
Recently, we also announced the second expansion set for Star Wars: Destiny—Spirit of Rebellion booster packs, coming to retailers in May. Expansion sets like Spirit of Rebellion and the third set (to be announced later this year) will be released in waves, which allows us to bring booster packs to retailers as fast as possible. There will be only one printing of these booster packs, and when these booster packs are gone, they will not be reprinted.
After the third expansion set, at the end of the year, we will release a base set for Star Wars: Destiny along with two new starter sets (which will replace the current Kylo Ren and Rey starter sets). This base set will provide an easy entry point for new players, while providing a foundational set to build from. The base set will remain in print for one year, until the next base set is released.
Going forwards, every year will begin with one base set, followed by two expansion sets. Base sets will remain in print as much as possible for one year, after which they will be replaced by a new base set. Expansion sets will have one printing, which will be released to retailers in waves, in order to bring product to retailers as quickly as possible. Unique products may be released in addition to this, but these products will be handled separately.
Fantasy Flight games has a solid plan set forth for the release of new expansions and starter sets. But for some people that might be upset they won’t be printing anymore, this is the way most trading cards games work, i.e. Magic the Gathering. Once a new expansion is released, they no longer sell the old ones, and the only way to get them is by buying the individual cards online or at a local games store.
None the less there is a lot of great updates that are going to be coming out for Destiny, and if you are considering getting into it, or buying more, you might not want to hesitate when they hit the stores again.
Or wait until the first “Base Set” comes out in January and may most likely reprint all the cards that are good from Awakenings and Spirit of Rebellion, like the core sets of Magic from years past.
