Storm of Iron & The Siege that Started it all is Back!

storm-of-iron-black-library-book-1Storm of Iron is returning from Black Library in a great-looking hardback with brand-new artwork for the siege that started it all.

Graham McNeill has written many seminal books for BL, but this may be the one that got so many people into playing Chaos Space Marines, and that’s just always a good thing! The book was initially released over 20 years ago (yes, somehow, 2002 is over 20 years ago…), and it’s awesome to see this coming back with a new cover.

It might be time for an update if you’ve had yours sitting on the shelves since release.

Storm of Iron is Back in Hardback From Black Library

The latest on the Storm of Iron comes from Warhammer Community.

Storm of Iron

Storm of Ironis one of the key texts for understanding the nightmarish appeal of the Chaos Space Marines and their ceaseless hatred for the Imperium. Released all the way back in the mists of time (2002), it is the story of Warsmith Honsou, who leads his Iron Warriors in the devastating siege of Hydra Cordatus.

This is one of the first Warhammer stories to put readers in the perspective of the villains, pitting the Iron Warriors against their mortal enemies, the Imperial Fists.

If you haven’t had a chance to read this, we recommend giving it a read, but beware; you might want to play CSM after you’re done! Even if you have read it, it would be nice to have it with new artwork. Here’s what they have to say about designing the cover.

Storm of Iron 2

When creating a new edition of a well-loved classic, the aim is to bring the story to life in a whole new way, while honouring that novel’s legacy. For this new edition ofStorm of Iron, this meant spotlighting the fan-favourite character of Honsou, while staying true to the gritty and intense style and colour palette of the original artwork. The result is a brand new cover that lets existing fans step back into battle with the Iron Warriors as well as giving new readers a place to join the siege!

The new art is excellent, and it keeps the grittiness in while being a significant update. Plus, who doesn’t love that Honsou gets the cover? They said it will be released soon™ but didn’t give an exact date yet, so keep your eyes peeled.
