Street Fighter & Lord of the Rings Coming to Magic The Gathering

Lord of the Rings Magic rStreet Fighter and Lord of the Rings are coming to Magic the Gathering in 2022- check out what we know about the new additions!

We took a look recently at 40k coming to Magic, but the new cards aren’t stopping there. Not only will Street Fighter and Lord of the Rings be joining the game but Fortnite will receive an offering as well. So if you like any of the titles above, 2022 will be fun for MTG.

They haven’t revealed many cards yet but the artwork is already looking great and who doesn’t want to throw down Chun Li in a Magic game? Plus, we can only imagine quite how powerful Gandalf should be, but let’s hope they give him some serious abilities. Let’s jump into the new cards that were previewed in the latest Magic the Gathering showcase from Wizards.

Street Fighter:

Street Fighter celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2022, and we’re joining in the fun with a Secret Lair drop featuring its iconic characters in ways only Magic can celebrate. Multikicker is the perfect mechanic for Chun Li, right?

These will be for Secret Lair and we’re not sure quite how many cards they will make but let’s hope it’s a ton! If you want to see what else is going on with Magic, check it out here.

Lord of the Rings Coming to Magic:

Lord of the Rings MagicUnfortunately, this isn’t coming until 2023, but let’s hear about what’s happened so far:

Arriving in 2023, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ brings the incredible depth of the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien to life with a full Magic set release.

Gandalf, Gollum, Frodo, Aragorn—the characters you know will immerse you in Middle-earth as you battle for The One Ring, scheme with Saruman, or journey to the heights of Mount Doom. Coming to tabletop, Magic Online, and MTG Arena—plus four Commander decks and special Secret Lair drops—this set will be available everywhere you play.

Fortnite:

Fortnite will feature two special Secret Lair drops consisting of reprints like you’ve never seen them before—though you’re on your own to practice your dance moves.

This is going to be a release of previous cards but with new artwork for Secret Lair. So if you love Fortnite, keep your eyes peeled!

That does it for this one, just a bunch of fun cards to look forward to.
