There could be hope on the horizon for hobbyists as trade talks between the U.S and China have finally resumed. What does this mean for tariff price hikes?
If you’ve been following along, you know that the Sylvaneth have been hit the hardest with trade tariffs among Countries. We’ve been expecting their full release for about a month now. However, because of the disagreement among nations, they’ve been essentially sitting in stasis mode. But there’s hope moving forward as the Toy Association is our hobby advocate:
The Toy Association has been aggressively advocating against tariffs for more than a year and, as an active member and leader of the Americans for Free Trade coalition, will continue to spread awareness about the detrimental impact of tariffs on American companies, jobs, and families.
Trade Tariffs Put On Hold: Could We Be Seeing Releases Come Quicker?
Coming from the Toy Association:
“After months of advocacy at the highest levels of government, our leadership role in the Americans for Free Trade coalition, securing top Washington, DC firm Hogan Lovells in support of our External Affairs team, and our relentless efforts to ensure the toy community’s story was heard in all forms of media, The Toy Association is relieved that the fourth list of tariffs has at least been delayed,” stated Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association.
We’re not out of the woods entirely. However, governments are putting a hold on the tariffs to talk out some possible trade-deal outcome. Hopefully, with this delay, we’ll see the releases from GW like the Sylvaneth finally make it to the shelves.
Moving forward, maybe the new Space Marines & Sisters of Battle will be timed just right. Here’s to hoping we won’t be having to wait for them to hit the stores!
It is our hope that renewed negotiations will produce meaningful progress, while we remain adamant that tariffs on children’s toys is the wrong approach and should never come to pass.
With threats of prices hiking beyond reasonable costs to more releases getting held up, it’s nice to at least see a step in the right direction.
