The Portal Spring GT happened over the weekend with some pretty sweet Warhammer 40k army lists taking the top spots!
The tournament is over and now we’re able to look at which lists managed to secure a place at the top! Check out what these winners brought in their armies.
The Portal 40k Spring GT: Top 40k Army Lists

3rd Place: Trevor Harris – Custodes
2nd Place: Daniel Wohlmuth – Eldar
1st Place: Benjamin Rubenstein – Tau
Benjamin’s winning Tau list consisted of 2 detachments with the first being a huge patrol being led by an Ethereal and a Crisis Commander. The Commander packs some decent stats and great firepower, along with the Ethereal, which thanks to their new buffs and systems are much better support units in this edition.
Additionally, there is a no-slot unit of Bodyguards which are solid units with decent weapons that get to slot right in thanks to the unique rule allowing them to not take up an elite slot.
Troops add a 10 man kroot unit for some cheap chaff bodies, and Elites start off with a 5 man Crisis squad running 2 plasma and 1 flamer each for a mix of chaff clearing and anti-armor.
There is also a second Crisis squad of 5 this time swapping the plasma out for burst cannons which add a ton of shots to each shooting phase for clearing chaff.
Fast attack brings in 4 kroot hounds for a distraction and 4 marker drones to help constantly replace marker lights every turn.
Heavy Support brings in 6 Broadsides with heavy Rail Rifles, which have a ton of range and damage potential making them great at demolishing armor and other long-range threats.
Finally, the second detachment closes out the list with Shadowsun, which for her points is an absolute beast, both being a supporting character and a decent stand-alone figure that can dish out serious damage every turn.
