Daemons seem to still be competitive in tournament play as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at the TJ Cafe & Games GT!
9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This shows us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
TJ Cafe & Games GT: Top 40k Homebrew Army List
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves. Check out the event details here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
However, we aren’t covering all those lists. Instead, we will look at just one of our favorites this week.
TJ Cafe & Games GT: Nathan Price – Daemons 6th Place
Nathan did fairly well at a large tournament running full Daemons! His list comprised two detachments, the first being a battalion led by Be’lakor, a Keeper of Secrets, and Shalaxi Helbane. All three HQs are fantastic melee machines with some great psychic support caked into their kits. Not to mention all three are also fairly mobile and durable, making for fantastic threats.
Troops keep it dedicated to Slaanesh with a total of 40 Daemonettes for cheap bodies and decent stats that go along with the HQ’s aura abilities.
Elites bring in a 6 Fiends for some slightly more dense bodies that are, of course great in melee again. Fast Attacks close out the detachment with 5 Furies for a hint of extra mobility and get the list closer to the points cap.
The second detachment is led by 2 Keeper of Secrets, getting even more big-bodied threats, and has ten more Daemonettes joining the lines.
