Top Homebrew 40k Army List: 2021 Tables & Towers GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta 40k army list emerged in the 2021 Tables & Towers GT Tournament, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

2021 Tables & Towers GT: Paul McArthur- Imperial Knights

house krast table towerPaul had a unique list because he went pure knights with no soup for support. That means this list is a single Super Heavy Detachment of House Krast and nothing more. Krast allows for the knight to reroll all hit rolls in the fight phase. Which each model other than the Helverins have melee weapons. This means that this list will probably have a pretty big emphasis on CQC Knight Loadouts.

Starting with 2 Helverins, these provide a decent volume of shots at 3 damage a pop to try and help cleave through marines or even other chaff from range, while the rest of the list has the option to get in close and personal.

The 2 Warglaives have two very high AP weapons to help against high armor save units and have their melee weapon which can help against vehicles or sweeps for clearing chaff. Both the Warglaive and Helverins have decent movement and ok durability meaning they should be able to walk around the battlefield relatively freely.

The Knight Warden took the Thunderstrike gauntlet which other than having a huge flat 6 damage swing, also has the added benefit or throwing vehicles and monsters at a unit within 9″ if it kills them for mortal wounds. It of course also has titanic feet which is perfect for dealing with marines as it is 12 -3ap d3 damage, (each damage 2 roll would be a dead marine).

Finally, there are 2 Magaeras running Siege Claw and Twin Rad-Cleansers. The Rad-Cleansers are 12″ flamers which auto-hit and wound on 2’s against all non-vehicle/monster models. It does however have no ap and 3 damage on its 2d6 shots, meaning it’s decent for most models but you will be at will to their armor saves. The Siege claws have two great profiles for both chaff clearing, which can clear marines with ease or challenge vehicles with higher armor saves. Once again they also have titanic feet.

Overall this list offers a little bit of a different approach but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta.

Even better they got great results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.
