Top Homebrew 40k Army List: August Annihilation RTT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the August Annihilation RTT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

August Annihilation RTT: William Jones – Harlequins

august annihilation homebrew 1William’s list is a simple one, but special because of his dedication to Harlequins alone! Leading his battalion are 2 HQs, a Shadowseer, which makes nearby units -1 to wound, and a Troupe Master, who allows rerolls of wound rolls for nearby units.

august annihilation homebrew 2As for Troops, there are a whopping 32 Troupes, making for plenty of bodies to take advantage of vehicles and the Troupe Master’s wound reroll ability.

august annihilation homebrew 3Elites see the inclusion of a single Death Jester who is a cheap character and a decent ranged damage option. Fast Attacks bring in 10 of the iconic Harlequin Skyweavers. They each serve as very mobile and durable vehicles.

They also have great ranged and melee weapons, making for versatile and mobile threats that are hard to ignore.

august annihilation homebrew 4Finishing the list are 5 Star Weavers which serve as ways to mobilize all the Troupes and give them extra wounds to help survive the early turns. The movement and protection they give are extremely important and no Drukhari or Halequin list seems complete without a good amount of these.

Overall this list offers an older approach, but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta. Harlequins are great because they do their own game plan extremely efficiently!

Even better they got decent results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a previously widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.

What do you think about this homebrew 40k army list from last weekend that caught our eye?
