Another off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Da Boyz GT, check this one out!
9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Da Boyz GT
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can check out the details for the event here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorite, but still strong lists!
Da Boyz GT: Dante Thunderstone – Emperor’s Children (4th Place)
Dante went with a unique approach running a full battalion of Emperor’s Children. It is led by a Dark Apostle and a Sorcerer. The Apostle has a decent hit re-roll aura prayer and the Sorcerer gains access to psychic powers bringing extra support.
Troops on the other hand bring in 3 squads of 10 Noise Marines each with 2 Blastmasters, which are fantastic ranged options with high strength and a decent amount of shots, plus Blast for some extra perks.
Elites bring in 3 Chaos Contemptor Dreads all running Twin Volkite, for their sweet volume of 2 damage shots, making waste to any chaff in their way and sometimes being able to sneak wounds onto more armored foes.
Finally, for Transports, we see an old unit return with 3 Terrax-Pattern Termite drills joining the fray. These are great because they essentially allow a unit to deep strike in, protect them, and then shoot off potshots if they are ignored, gaining extra value each turn they are out.
This list just goes to show us that fluffy lists can still perform decently, but you still have to play it correctly! It also proves that older, strong lists can still perform decently with shifting metas sometimes.
