Another off-meta 40k army list emerged in the Fabricators Forge June RTT Tournament, check this one out!
9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Fabricators Forge June RTT: Dennis Duffy- Death Guard
Dennis took a unique approach to Death Guard. Everyone pretty much knew that Death Guard has good Daemon Engine options, but with a 2k outrider, Dennis went all-in on the plan!
Death Guard Sorcerer in Terminator leads the force providing psychic support on a very tough body, even further 3 Deathshroufh Terminators help protect the sorcerer even further. 10 Cultists and 18 Poxwalekrs are mainly there for bubblewrap or to sit on objectives. They are cheap bodies that can clog up areas against lists without effective tools to clear chaff.
The “meat” of the list is entirely Daemon Engines! First up over 1200 pts of the list are 9 Myphitic Blight-haulers. These mobile weapon platforms pack a serious punch, with each having a melta, a missile launcher, and additional “spit” assault shots. 18 melta shots along with missile launcher shots (with their built-in flexibility) and 19D3 assault shots, you get a ton of firepower in each shooting phase. Not to mention they each have 9 wounds, 3+ save and Daemon saves, making them hard to focus down effecitively.
Finally, there are also two Plagueburst Crawlers, giving some long-range ranged support that can sit in a corner and just pump out consistent damage every turn while the army pushes up the board.
Overall this list offers a little bit of a different approach but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta.
Even better they got decent results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.
