Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Into the Hellstorm – The Bolter

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Into the Hellstorm – The Bolter, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Into the Hellstorm – The Bolter: Jay Middlecote – Imperial Knights

Jay took a unique approach because he went for pure knights, no extra detachment for the support! Starting off for his Super Heavy Detachment, there are four Armiger Warglaives, as the cheapest knights, these serve as “mini-knights’ giving a  few extra bodies with extra mobility. The Heavy Stubbers also help clear out some of the extra chaff opposing lists might have brought.

Next, there are two Knight Crusaders. Both took heavy Stubbers, a Thermal Cannon, and a Missile pod. This loadout provides some great anti-armor shots along with some decent chaff options. The missile pod is also great at targeting marines and other 2 wound models.

Finally, the Magaera has more focus on chaff clearing with multi-shot 2 damage weapons and its signature siege claw.

Overall this list offers a unique approach, but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta. The meldable character traits also give the list more customzation that what it looks like on the surface.

Even better they got decent results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a previously widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.

What do you think about this homebrew 40k army list from last weekend that caught our eye?
