Another off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Merry Slaaneshmass Tournament, check this one out!
9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Merry Slaaneshmass
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.
6th Place: Zachary Nelson- Thousand Sons
Zachary went for two detachments, with the first being a battalion led by Ahriman, an Exalted Sorcerer, and the new Infernal Master. Ahriman has always been known as a fantastic Psychic support piece and that’s still true today. The Exalted Sorcerer is very similar in that aspect, it just doesn’t have the re-roll tests ability.
Both do however have re-roll auras making them even better than most psychic support pieces. The new Infernal Master has access to infernal pacts, bringing in even more support tools during the command phase!
Troops see a total of 25 Rubric Marines join the list, as they are really the main options for the faction. It also helps to get a decent amount of bodies to help secure objectives and benefit from the list’s two re-roll auras.
Closing out the first detachment are 2 Chaos Spawn and a Rhino, just to squeeze in some extra value and bring the point total all the way up as close to 2k as possible.
The second detachment is a patrol led by a second Exalted Sorcerer and a normal Sorcerer. The normal Sorcerer is cheaper and loses the re-roll aura, but both still serve as great support pieces.
There is also one more 5 man unit of Rubric Marines bringing the total up to 30.
Finally closing out the list is a 445 pts squad of Occult Terminators, which many might consider the Thousand Sons best unit option. They offer a ton of firepower and have the added benefit of being very hard to take down, and like many of the Thousand Sons units can cast Psychic powers!
