Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Warhammer World Tournament

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Warhammer World Tournament, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Warhammer World Tournament: Greg Friggens – Chaos Daemons

Greg’s Warhammer World list is a Chaos Daemons Battalion led by non-other than Be’lakor himself! He has tons of benefits, making him harder to kill, deadlier in combat, and two great auras helping with leadership tests and hit rolls for nearby troops. Speaking of Troops, there are 60 Bloodletters and 20 Brimstone Horrors.

This allows for some un-assuming threats if allowed to get in melee at full strength and of course a ton of bodies to muck up enemy ranged units. Fast Attacks bring in 15 furies for cheap mobile units to distract ranged threats or grab unguarded objectives, while Elites bring in 3 Fiends of Slaanesh, providing anti-psychic power auras and decent melee threats. Finishing the list is 10 Havocs with Autocannons for chaff clearing and 3 Obliterators for some variance and the ability to get the jump on back units by deep striking in.

Overall this list offers an older approach, but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta.

Even better they got decent results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a previously widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.

What do you think about this homebrew 40k army list from last weekend that caught our eye?
