Top Homebrew 40k Army List: XPZ Last Chancer GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the XPZ Last Chancer GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

5th Place: Kyle Norman – Chaos Knights

Kyle Norman 1Kyle went for a unique list of Chaos knights and actually did pretty well! He even did a “Knights of the round table” theme to make it interesting. The list consists of a single Super Heavy Detachment led by King Arthur himself as a Knight Tyrant running for the most part anti-armor ranged options, making for a good mobile weapon station that can and will take out entire squads/vehicles in one round of shooting.

Following Arthur into battle are of course his Knights. The first of which are Bors, Lamorak, and Kay, who are a three-man squad of War Dogs all running Meltas, Thermal Spears, and Chain-cleavers. this makes them pretty versatile threats with good anti-armor shots and a pretty good melee option all while being on a mobile chassis that can freely move around the board.

The second set of Wardogs is War Dog Moirax variants as Lancelot, Percival, and Geraint, all of which are running double Lightning Lock. making them perfect for clearing low-wound models with a total of 12 shots each and scoring 2 bonus hits on natural 6s.

Kyle Norman 2The final set of three War Dog Moirax is split into 2 groups. The first represents Gwynevere and is running a single Lock and Siege claw for just a hint of extra melee threat when needed.

The last two are Galahad and Gareth, once again running double Lightning Lock for their chaff clearing power, as that’s most likely the weakness of the list at the end of the day. However, with all the Locks, it might not be with all those shots raining down!
