Top Warhammer 40k Army Lists: Frontline Gaming New Orleans Open
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
Also if you happened to miss it, the meta will be changing in some manner due to the new Balance Update for 40k that Games Workshop published earlier in November.
3rd Place: Quinton Johnson – Drukhari
2nd Place: Mark Perry – Orks

1st Place: John Lennon – Tyranids
John went for 2 detachments of Tyranids with the first being a Battalion led by a Malanthrope for protecting nearby units from ranged attack and pumping out some mortals and a Swarmlord for extra mobility and a fantastic melee unit. As for troops, he went for a mix of 24 Genestealers, 19 Hormagaunts, and 52 Termagaunts.
Each of these is cheap bodies and all offer a slight change of focus like melee vs shooting, but are all great for objectives or soaking wounds. There are also 3 Tyranid Warriors, for some more elite melee options.
Elites bring in 6 Hive Guard with impaler cannons, which are fantastic Mortars that deal a ton of damage. A lictor serves as a super cheap model and the Maleceptor brings in some extra psychic support. Finishing the Battalion is 3 Slasher Swarms which serve as some super cheap mobile flyers that can deep strike in to wrap up a unit for a turn.
The second detachment is led by a Patriarch, which is a pretty good psyker and decent melee combatant. Closing out the list is 10 Acolyte Hybrids, for some cheap bodies that help fill out the patrol.
