Vallejo Updated Game Color & Xpress Color Paint for Miniatures

Vallejo Game color Range featureThe updated Vallejo Game Color and Xpress Color miniature paint line has hit store shelves; here is how it looks on miniatures!

There is now a decent number of new colors for both lines, along with bigger sets of colors that are available now. On top of that, Vallejo has also improved their existing bottle design to make them more secure.

The new Game Color line also seems to have a new chemical makeup and a  BSL (base, shadow, and light) color strategy to make painting faster and easier. The base paints have a matte finish and new fluorescents, metals, and more!

New Vallejo Game Color & Xpress Color Miniature Paint Line

Vallejo Game color RangeHere’s a little more about new Game Color Range from Vallejo:

The new Game Color formulation represents a new approach to painting Fantasy and Wargame figures.

Vallejo Game color Range 3

Developed by our experts together with professional modelers, the new range implies a further step in the evolution of miniature painting by offering an intuitive and easy-to-learn painting method to new generations.

The color chart is pretty massive; nothing wrong with having more colors at your disposal!

Vallejo Game color Range 2

The range has been designed according to the BSL (Base, Shadow, Light) figure paint system, based on chromatically compatible groupings of three colors, which offers the less experienced painters for an easy choice of colors (shades) to paint miniatures with the appropriate highlights and shadows for each base color.

This will really help new and veteran painters alike, as sometimes you don’t know what color to pick next!

On top of this, they will also have new inks, metallics, and some fluorescent colors, so there is plenty to sink your teeth into!

New Bottle

The new fully transparent r-PET (recycled/recyclable) plastic bottle is completely transparent, improves color visualization, and enhances AV’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. In addition to the new bottle, the new cap includes a security seal.

The new security seal should hopefully help with spillage, and being more sustainable is always a plus!

New Vallejo Xpress Color Range

Xpress ColorHere’s more about the new Xpress colors:

When we need to paint multiple figures in a fast way, Xpress Color is the ideal choice, these matt colors are specifically formulated to paint miniatures in a fast and easy way.

The main characteristics are its excellent capillarity that allows the color to flow easily over the miniature surface, settling on all the reliefs and more intensely in the crevices of the figure, creating a contrast effect with a single layer of paint.

It’s recommended to apply Xpress Color on a white or grey primed or painted surface. The color will create light areas on the reliefs, saturated mid-tones and intense shadows in the crevices of the figure.

Like all our products, they are very versatile and can be applied over any color in the range to create soft shading and contouring effects, to create glazes or filters and to blend transitions between color tones.

Xpress Color can be mixed together, or can be diluted with Xpress Medium to modify or create new shades.

Development & How to Use The New Vallejo Game Color Line

Vallejo Game color Range 6Angel GiraldeZ had a huge hand in developing these! Plus, he posted a great picture of all the colors coming soon. Here’s what he had to say about the development process.

In a few days the new GAME COLOR range will be available and as many of you already know, my colleague Pedro Gonzalez and I were proud to be the developers of this new range, including Wash, Fluo, Xpress and inks.
I have to mention that this challenge has been possible thanks to the great work of Vallejo’s chemists, who have managed to smartly translate the ideas into this new formula. And above all, many thanks to Jaume Ortiz who has been the essential point of union between the 2 departments.
As we said, It also looks like singles will be available very soon, but for sets and such, it looks like we won’t grab those until early next year. Still, if you want to see how they actually work on minis, Angel posted two reviews already to his YouTube, with more to come.
So be sure to check out his videos below!
