Fantasy Flight has created a very unique tournament, with the grand finale taking place during the 2017 Star Wars™ Celebrations in Orlando, Florida.
The X-Wing System Open Series is a set of 8 tournaments taking place across the world. Let’s take a look at the different places you can enter one of these qualifiers.
Mustafar™ January 28 – January 29th San Antonio, TX USA
Kashyyyk™ February 18 – 19th San Diego, CA USA
Yavin™ February 18 – 19th Birmingham, UK
Lothal™ February 25 – 26th Nuremberg, Germany
Endor™ March 3 – 5th Seattle, WA USA
Naboo™ March 18 – 19th Syracuse, NY USA
Tatooine™ March 18 – 19th Madrid, Spain
Hoth™ March 23 – 25th Chicago, IL USA
The winner of each location will earn themselves transportation, tickets, and accommodation to attend the 2017 Star Wars™ Celebrations in Orlando, Florida, where they will battle each other in the final battle for Coruscant. Star Wars™ Celebration is the ultimate experience for fans of the Star Wars™ galaxy. Each Star Wars™ Celebration is four days of exhibits, exclusive panels and screenings, celebrity guests, autograph sessions, and other surprises. Here, you can meet with friends and make new memories in the ever-evolving universe of Star Wars™.
Each player in the Coruscant Invitational will bring 77 points of a squad for each faction, in honor of the 1977 theatrical release of Star Wars. As for the remaining points left over, well….
At the Coruscant Invitational, players will then draft mini-squads to complete their squads. Various members of the X-Wing community and Fantasy Flight Games staff have been selected as mini-squad creators. They will compose mini-squads, worth 23 to 28 points, using a specific ship from each faction. To ensure squad legality, when choosing their pilots and upgrades, no unique cards can be used in these mini-squads!
Most exciting of all, one of the mini-squad creators could be you! We have left the mini-squads for the B-Wing, the TIE Advanced and the Scum Y-Wing to be created and voted on by the community!
This is definitely going to be any X-Wing players dream trip. So get out to a tournament near you and fight your way to that top seat for your chance at taking home a victory on Coruscant!
