GW Previews New Underworlds Shadespire Cards
With 60 new cards, this expansion is set to shake up your local Warhammer Underworlds scene with a range of new ploys, upgrades and objectives to play with, centring on each warband’s favourite fighters – their leaders!
This is the latest upcoming expansion for the Shadespire board game. It’ll have cards every Warband can use. Grab them to get the upper hand on your opponent!
Ploys
Having your leader long-arm his sword a couple feet to smack someone is always nice. What’s even better is getting to make an entire attack action against the person who’s killing your leader. The only crappy part is that your leader is dying.
Quick Advance is all about cheating speed. It’s a great way for the few-modeled Stormcast Warband to keep up or the Khorne Warbands to chase down an enemy. Similarly, Tyrant’s Command frees up a unit that already moved. It’s all about speed with these two.
If you’ve seen Orks, you know they already hit hard and Impress Da Boss can make them completely one-shot an enemy. Furthermore, Coveted trophy is a quick and easy way to get a glory point. Just make sure you play a Warband that can get to the enemy leader.
Upgrades
You’ve gotta have something to spend that hard-earned glory on right? Here are some of the new upgrades.
Apex predator needs to be put in a serious head-hunting deck. Commanding Shout is basically a reusable Quick Advance ploy.
Rising to the Challenge and Treacherous Second act like a good safety net in case your leader does end up kicking the bucket.
Like with the ploys, there are several nifty faction-specific options in the set too. Steelheart’s Second rewards Steelheart’s Champions warbands that stick together and can be combined with other damage-boosting upgrades to make for some exceptionally deadly fighters, while Gory Visage makes Magore of Magore’s Fiends frighteningly hard to kill…
Magore has been hitting the weights. Consequently, He can take twice as long to kill if he’s going up against the right Warband.
Objectives
Fyreslayers are hard to kill. They like to get in your face and stick around. Both of these cards would be great for the Warband.
Throw these three cards into that head-hunter deck we were talking about like some Khorney boys and run at the enemy. You should be able to get these pretty easily. Even more so if you go against Sepulchral Guard.
Intervention is icing on the Stormcast cake. Get some glory and punt a dwarf off of the objective.
Pride of the Lodge is an auto-include in any upgrade/equipment deck and Khorne’s Chosen is just plain silly.
Shadespire is turning out to be quite a successful game. All in all, after multiple expansions, this board game seems like it’s actually going to stick around. It keeps getting support and fans are buying it up.
