The Darkshroud is one of the stranger relics the Dark Angels Employ, but it’s pretty amazing, so why wouldn’t they? We would if we had it!
With the Dark Angels slotted for release soon, we wanted to take a look at the history of one of their wildest relics. While they like to live in the past, this just takes it to another level. Get out your biggest most ominous cloak and let’s learn about some Darkshroud lore!
Darkshroud Lore: Icon of the Dark Angels
There is an argument that this is the strangest of all the relics deployed to the field of battle anymore. And when you’re talking about the archaic Dark Angels, that’s really saying something! It has a similar effect as a standard-bearer for the Chapter. The giant monstrosity of the thing rallies the troops and they would rather die than see it fall! Hey, they have to prove they’re at least faithful to something…
The basic chassis for the is a Landspeeder Vengeance mounted with a plethora of relics. These include the Stone Guardian, An Icon of Old Caliban, or the Ten Brothers of The Order, some of the few artifacts that were found on the planet after the Hous Heresy. There are only ten of them in existence, so if one were to fall, you would never hear the end of it. Better to just die and let your other brothers deal with the wrath.
How it Came to be
These became something the Dark Angels started using after the giant Warp Storm split the planet of Caliban asunder. While the majority of the planet was thrown into ruin, not everything was destroyed. There was a forcefield so powerful, it kept the storm at bay in certain parts of the world. Blocking the storm, however, left some lasting repercussions. To this day the atmosphere within The Rock still is crowned with lighting.
The Tower of Angels was one of the first things to be destroyed. Although the solemn Dark Angels took the remnants of their homeworld as a base, they never felt it correct to rebuild the wreckage. But one day, they finally decided to venture into those ruins. There standing proudly among the wreckage were the relics mentioned above. Their eyes glowed with otherworldly power. And you obviously know what Space Marines do when they see something with power. They fashioned it to their Landspeeders and made these crazy machines! Maybe it’s because the Chapter has so little to hold onto that these mean so much to them. But either way, they look cool.
That does it for this one! Just a really strange vehicle that still finds use on the battlefield.
