First Look – Space Marine Codex Review

2015-06-12_0217
It’s finally here, come see the new Space Marine codex close up!

The highly anticipated new codex is here, and it is FANTASTIC! There is so many new awesome mechanics and new rules, that one can barely even register all the new art, and amazing layouts that Games Workshop is know for!
A ground breaking 200 page book has been forged for the defenders of humanity, resplendent with great layouts, tons of new artwork, and of course beautiful three quarter shots of nearly fifty different Space Marine units!

The book itself is divided into four HUGE sections, fluff (Astartes History, Background on the chapters, Horus Heresy,  etc), unit datasheets/ formations/detachments, painted minis gallery, and the rules appendices.

These guys are the reason most of us are playing the game currently, and in 7th Edition, the new Space Marines are certainly rising to the occasion!
Once again between the layouts, paint schemes, and the ‘eavy Metal gallery – this is just a beautiful looking book.

Overall the new codex bring us the rules for a new ‘Decurion’ type detachment called the Gladius Strike Force (that can give you a ton of free units), the new Astartes wargear/weapon options, and their accompanying detachments/formations. Of course the formations are interchangeable with the Gladius Strike Force, as well as being perfectly fine to take on their own.
