The Galactic Emperor seems to become ever stronger with each new expansion in Destiny. Will Palpatine usurp Snoke as the big bad guy to watch out for?
The Galactic Emperor recently seems to have been dethroned by the new upstart, Snoke. Every competitive Villains deck now features Snoke as the big man making the moves. Let’s see if we can bring back Big Papa Palpatine! With each subsequent release of new expansions, Palpatine has new options to keep his reign of terror going strong. 
At 28 points elite, Palpatine has just enough points left over to squeeze in a Plot. At only 1 point, Retribution will add some soft counters to die removal, which Palpatine is very weak against. After 1 or more of your character dice are removed by an opponent, you may deal 1 damage to a character. This works much like Palpatine’s ability to deal damage for just having resolved his character dice. Now if those dice are removed, he can deal damage back!
To keep this free damage action going strong, give Palpatine some Bloodlust. This 2 cost upgrade makes it so that after you resolve one of the attached character’s character dice showing damage, you may deal 1 damage to a character. For Palpatine and his ability, you can resolve his 3 ranged damage side, deal 2 damage with his character ability, and then deal 1 additional damage with Bloodlust for a massive 6 damage from 1 die resolution. Unlimited power!
Another great upgrade for Palpatine is Force Lift. This upgrade adds indirect damage, and focus sides to switch Palpatine’s powerful character dice to whatever you need to destroy your enemies. Force Lift also has a special ability that allows you to deal 2 damage to a character or return a support in play that costs 3 or less to its owner’s hand. This can halt the momentum from Hero supports that could threaten the Emperor’s dominance in Destiny.
A final flex of his power, I Am the Senate is an awesome Blue Event for Palpatine. For each die in your pool, you may remove a die showing the same value as that die. With a plethora of high value sides on Palpatine’s dice, I Am The Senate will remove a huge amount of value from your opponent’s dice pool. The Emperor is the ultimate power in Destiny, and he will challenge Snoke for the top Villain to watch out for!
