Maarek Stele is piloting his TIE Defender this time around and is hunting for Rebels to add to his killstreaks. This build will make sure they don’t come back.
Maarek Stele is riding in his new TIE Defender this time around in Star Wars X-Wing. At pilot skill 7, this ruthless Imperial Ace will make sure the Rebels go down. His pilot ability kicks on after you deal faceup damage to an opponent’s ship and allows him to force an opponent to draw 3 damage cards and pick which crit to give. This can cripple a ship with a terrible crit that could start the countdown clock to their destruction!
The TIE/D title is a great upgrade for Maarek as it can allow him to potentially fire twice in one round. The key is to equip a cannon upgrade that cost 3 or less. This can synergize well with a crippling cannon upgrade, like Jamming Beam.
Jamming Beam works well by disarming the defender’s defenses. You can attack an enemy ship at range 1-2 with the Jamming Beam and roll 3 attack dice. If the attack hits, you cancel all dice and assign a jamming token. This will force the defender to discard a crucial evade or focus that will leave them at the mercy of Maarek Stele’s onslaught!
Since Jamming Beam works at range 1-2, Advanced Homing Missiles is a great ordnance to use. Being only effective at range 2, this missile will take careful positioning to use but will crush an opponent. Requiring a target lock, you may discard its card to perform a 3 dice attack. If it hits, deal 1 faceup damage card to the defender. Time for Maarek to select a crit out of the 3 that he draws! The Rebels will be running in fear once the Stele Rain comes into range.
