Unlikely Allies: X-Wing’s Maul & Ezra

By Barclay Montgomery | December 28th, 2017 | Categories: Star Wars Tactics, X-Wing 2.0

Ezra and Maul are teaming up to take out the Empire in Star Wars X-Wing. Will their temporary truce last long enough for them to see victory?

Ezra Bridger is piloting the Phantom II in this build for the Rebels. It may not look like much but it can pack a surprising punch once we get done with it! This ship will be able to Coordinate your allies and punch well above its small ship class.

Formerly Darth, Maul enters X-Wing as a Scum only crew upgrade, but if your squad contains Ezra Bridger, you may ignore the Scum only restriction! Maul has good synergy with Ezra’s pilot ability. With Maul, when you are attacking, if you are not stressed, you may receive any number of stress tokens to reroll that many attack dice. After performing an attack that hits, you may remove one of your stress tokens. This is a great way to make sure that hits come up on your dice by rerolling them, and if you have stress left over, Ezra’s ability kicks in to change 2 focus results to evades whenever you are defending.

The Sheathipede Class ship comes with an Astromech slot, so we better add Chopper! As an Astromech upgrade, Chopper allows you to discard an equipped upgrade to recover 1 shield. This can be useful in keeping Ezra and Maul alive for a little longer to see that battle through.  You could equip a 0 cost upgrade in order to get more mileage out of Chopper’s ability. After the battle has drawn on and enemy ships have gone down, it may be more beneficial to recover a shield instead of keep your pilot skill at 1 higher, so use Chopper to your advantage.

Will these unlikely allies stay friendly long enough to get though the space battles of X-Wing?
