A new Arvus Lighter is returning to Forge World in 40k scale to get your miniatures into and out of the thickest fighting in Horus Heresy.
With so much focus on Legions Imperialis, we haven’t seen much for the actual Horus Heresy, so it’s nice to get a Horus Heresy Thursday actually focusing on the bigger-scale game!
From the looks of it, this will be in resin; however, it will be retooled with some improvements to the older model. But worry not, it still won’t be much of a gunship, and far more focused on carrying your troops into battle!
Forge World Arvus Lighter Returns to Horus Heresy
The latest on the Arvus Lighter comes from Warhammer Community.
The Arvus Lighter is back, and when the quagmire gets too thick for even tanks to crawl through, there’s nothing else you’ll want at your side. This resin legend of the Horus Heresy era will be returning to the Forge World webstore soon, retooled and ready for flight after a long hiatus.
Weapons? You don’t need weapons where you’re going – the Arvus Lighter is a loyal beast of burden, not some jumped-up glory-chasing gunship. The strength of an army is borne on the back of its logistics, and nothing ferries men and materiel around a busy battlefield quite like this purpose-built transport craft.
There is something endearing about this model; it’s boxy, lightly armed, and small for a flyer. But this holds a special place in a lot of people’s hearts.
Its transport capacity of 12 might seem like plenty by the standards of the Legiones Astartes, but with Solar Auxilia lasrifle sections much more numerous, the Arvus Lighter is reserved for smaller elite formations and command squads. All comfort and style are stripped away in favour of rugged efficiency, making it a bargain option for rapid redeployment – at fewer points than even a Dreadclaw Drop Pod, it’s the cheapest Flyer in Imperial service.
If you want a cheap flyer, this is a great option, as it’s even cheaper than a Drop Pod. While they didn’t give an exact release date, we expect to see this pretty soon.
Previously the Arvus did have rules in Warhammer 40k 9th Edition, but from the looks of this announcement, it will stay solely in the game of Horus Heresy (and potentially Legions Imperialis) for now.
