Get ready for the exciting finale to the Masterclass series on Marneus Calgar from Jack of Clubs painting with a basing and blood splatter tutorial!
It’s finally here! The finale for the Masterclass series featuring Marneus Clagar has arrived! This tutorial will finish up the Chapter Master of the Ultramarines with an impressive City Ruins base from Elrik’s Hobbies and will finish off this impressive model.
To start off on the base, Jack airbrushes some Vallejo Somber Gray on the base, focusing on the top of the tiles, and getting some color on the crumbling ruins to get a good foundation layer for the rest of our paints. Vallejo Wolf Gray can be used on the center of the tiles and help fade out the original Somber Gray. Make sure to get all the details to pop out on the base. Stynylrez White is used last on the gray highlights on the tiles and detailed concrete areas to bring out a rougher texture. VMC Buff is used on the skulls on the base with a very small amount of air. Use Vallejo Ivory after that to get some detailed highlights on the skulls.
Next, use Scale75 Black Metal to wash all the metallic parts of the base with a dark metal sheen. Follow up with Army Painter Dark Tone and Mixing Medium, adding more browns to the dark metallic colors and a wash all over the base.
Vallejo Heavy Red is perfect for creating random blood spatter effect on the base. Add a little to a paintbrush, and then use an airbrush to give a few puffs of air to add some blood spatter fitting of Marneus Calgar.
And there you have it, one Chapter Master of the Ultramarines completed! This Masterclass has been amazing and we can’t wait to see more.
