Bolt Action: Painting U.S. Army Made Easy

Assemble your troops and get ready to paint some Bolt Action with Jack of Clubs. This painting tutorial will have your troops table-ready in no time.

Jack of Clubs is back to bring you painting maniacs some more painting how to’s. We honor the US Army troops by painting a squad of soldiers from Bolt Action by Warlord Games. Jack is using the Warlord Games paint sets to give these troops the paint job they deserve. Let’s get painting America’s finest!

Bolt Action U.S. Army

Before you start the painting, you must do a little prep work. Place your Bolt Action soldiers on a cardboard sheet and prime them with black paint. To get a nice pre-shade use some Red Brown Stynylrez Primer from Badger.

Another pre-shade with white paint finishes up our first step.

Next, airbrush Warlord Games Bazooka Green over our soldiers with short quick passes. US Army Green is next. Target the tops of the models that you primed white to make this green stronger. Leave a little brown showing through to achieve the effect of some gritty troops.

To paint up our soldier jackets, US Army Webbing is a great start. To highlight our Army Webbing, a nice coat of US Gaiters Brown will add a little lighter color. It’s ok if the browns look too bright; a wash will bring the brightness down. Pitch Black and Bazooka Green are the perfect blend to paint the soldier helmets.

Get to washing your soldiers once all of your detail painting is complete. For this Army Painter Military Shader will get your troops ready for the next battle!
