Get ready for something a little different from Next Level Painting. Brown can secretly be the best color in your color wheel, and we will show you why!
Next Level Painting is back in his Beats Lab to give you a new tutorial on the secret techniques to make brown do amazing things. We will show you why brown is a miracle of color and can help you improve your painting techniques. We will be using the Lord Discordant model from our previous videos to help focus on the brown paint.
Brown is one of our go-to’s when it comes to getting those paint effects on our models. We are starting off with some Pro Acryl Mahogany mixed with some Magenta. Start applying your mix onto your Lord Discordant as a base coat, once over. Once your brown base coat dries, we can really dive into the fun stuff!
Grab your paint mix from before, but add more Magenta than Mahogany. Keep this paint thin as a glaze to go over our base coat, rebuilding a more fleshy tone. Brown is great for this because it has more “stick”. What this means is that brown shows through other paint coats. This technique can help you add layers that build off of each other to make a more rich color.
After your browns, use some Pro Acryl Bright Ivory to start adding some highlights. Keep the same consistency as the Magenta, going more for a wash technique. This will make a natural blending with the fleshy parts of this model.
Use some Red paint after you are finished with the brown and ivory blending. This red can work off of the existing brown and can add even more color depth to your models.
