Get that contrast on your miniatures with the latest tutorial from Jack of Clubs Painting!  Watch and learn how to make custom metallic colors to pop!

Jack of Clubs Painting is bringing you guys another fantastic painting tutorial on how to get your metallic paints to pop on your miniatures. We will focus on mixing in some color into your metallics that can help take your models to tabletop levels or higher.

Just use these simple techniques to get your metals looking metal!

Custom Metallic Shades

Scale 75 Black Metal is the first color we’ll use to base coat our model’s armor. We will take the dark gunmetal color and darken it further with a little dash of some black paint to make it even darker with a cyber demon feel. Scale 75 Thrash Metallics is next, used to paint up the cyber skeleton on our test model.  We want it to be a shiny metal to contrast and separate from the darker gunmetal colors.

Scale 75 really has upped their game on the matte and metallic colored paints. Jack of Clubs highly recommends Scale 75 for their amazing paints that look fantastic. Next, use a coal-black paint to paint his missile pods and pants. Mixing pigments into your metallics can show off different textures.

After finishing up the metal gauntlets and black missile pods and pants, use a little Pro Acryl Golden Yellow to mix into our dark metal feel. Adding a little Scale 75 Necro Gold can make a darker more luster-less gold to capture the feel of our gritty metallic model.
