Kenny from Next Level Painting is back to help nail down some quick wet blending techniques on your miniatures- once again made easy!
Kenny usually does full-scale painting tutorials, but in order to paint well, you also need to practice! This week he’s helping us by adding a new tool to our arsenal. Wet-blending can be hard and is certainly intimidating, but Kenny shows us how to do it quickly and easily on any of our minis.
Wet Blending Your Miniatures Made Easy
Using a wet pallet and any red, black, and white, begin to make a mix of both red and black, and red and white, to create three different shades of the same red. this will give us a good idea of the colors we are aiming to create.
When you begin painting the area you want to wet blend, make sure you keep moving while the paint is wet! Start by covering the area in black, then add red over the top half.
Add some water between the two colors to slowly begin blending them on the fly. You can slowly add more paint in the respective sections to create a smoother transition. Once the red and black transition is smooth, add a small circle of the pink color to the top of the red section. Once again, nurture the transition with water, red, and pink. Follow this same process inside the pink with white.
If you want to brighten up the area, you can super lightly glaze over some red to reintroduce saturation onto the area. That covers the basics of wet blending and how a glaze affects it!
