You Should Buy a Good Airbrush Already
When you feel ready to upgrade to a higher quality airbrush, Harder & Steenbeck has some great options. Take a look at this overview of the Evolution AL and the Colani airbrush options for a higher end addition to your normal workhorses.

Evolution AL Plus $227
The Evolution AL Plus from Harder & Steenbeck adds a whole new meaning to the term “air brush”. As the first airbrush made from aluminum, giving it an almost airy weight of only 56g, just about half as much as a traditional airbrush. Its design is striking as well, with a stylish matte black finish accentuated by a chromed open needle cap, cup, lever and center ring.
H&S Evolution AL Plus has a quick release ability on the air pressure valve, which also allows for finite pressure adjustments. The forked needle guard allows you to squeeze easily and create backwashing. Its cup unscrews easily for cleaning, and the case itself is aluminum, which leads to easy cleaning and an extremely lightweight airbrush. The air piston can also be adjusted, to adjust resistance depending on your project.
Cleaning is a snap because the back cap unscrews easily to get to the needle. However, the full airbrush doesn’t need to be broken down completely after each use for cleaning, since the inside workings are so well made that paint doesn’t get back into the works as easily.
Overall, this airbrush is easy to take apart for cleaning and is extremely well made.
Colani $266
The Colani is a multifunctional product of over 50 years experience in the production of paint sprayers. The distinctive design from Luigi Colani gives this instrument adaptable ergonomic characteristics which enable its universal use by both beginners and professionals. Comprehensive accessories and nozzle sizes from 0.2 and 1.2 mm make the Colani particular flexible for applications ranging from fine retouching to large surface painting. The dependent double function enables particularly fine work.
The Colani is a different airbrush from others, both in appearance and feel. The paint cup comes in two different sizes. It has an adjustable trigger style grip but still uses the top valve rather than a trigger. There are also various needle sizes that can be purchased. One thing Rob didn’t like was that the needle guard does not allow for backflushing, though.
The material is easy to clean, both outside and inside. Overall, it is easy to use and has very few parts to take apart for cleaning.
