What would YOU ask Games Workshop; here are the top 10 questions hobbyists really seem to want them to answer!
Rob recently made a Facebook post on the Spikey Bits Hobby Page, asking what questions would YOU want Games Workshop to answer about the hobby This was inspired by the Nights at the Game Table idea and was there a lot of questions being asked!
10 Questions Hobbyists Really Want GW to Answer
There were plenty of questions simply stating, why? This is a fair question, but with over 250 questions, here are our top 10.
If your question didn’t make it in here, as there were so many, we might have missed your thesis-worthy question; sorry about that!
Question 1: Is GW aware of what their customers and fans want and think about product lines?
Do you remember this old head?
This is a great question, as most times, it feels like GW really doesn’t pay that much attention to the fan base; however, there is some evidence they do listen. Well, at least they changed Uriel’s head! Joking aside, this is a very valid question.
GW does, at times, seem like they just forge headlong without listening to fan input.
Question #2:
Q: Why not make a simple edition that does not require six books four different armies, and online FAQs to play one army?
This is just something we feel everyone agrees with. The number of books you need to play near the end of every edition is happening repeatedly. Especially if you’re just playing for fun, it feels bad. We broke down how much it would cost to buy every book, which might shock you.
Check out the price of just buying the rules themselves here.
Question #3:
Do they want to price themselves out of business? 3d printers are rapidly becoming a thing/can they sell STLs?
While 3D printing is growing and maybe a way off from taking down GW, they are starting to price out so many hobbyists. We’ve looked a lot about 3D printing and GW, so if you want to learn more about it, check that out here.
But yes, we obviously wish prices would slow down as it is getting crazy. However, to be fair, almost everyone raised prices in 2022…
Question #4:
Could we have an edition that lasts longer than three years?
Well, unfortunately, this probably isn’t going to happen. They have had a 3-year cycle for a long time now, and 10th edition Warhammer looks to be no different. Check out all the rumors for the new edition.
Question
#5
Q: Why not switch to dropper bottles?
Well, we’ve talked about this a lot and actually had some hope with the recent paint release, but alas, this just seems like it’s not going to happen… Especially with the 3-year paint cycle, at best at this point, we see it in 2024. We have a tutorial on making your own GW dropper bottles, which you can click here to read.
Question#6:
Where is the value for the money?
We ask this all the time. It almost feels like GW really should provide value with every kit and codex compared to how much they are asking. This could be things like all the weapon options for things like heavy/special weapons and rules that don’t change a week later
As we say, vote with your hobby dollars, and GW will eventually have to listen! At least with some of the recent HH tanks, you could make the weapons modular, which is nice.
Question #7:
Q: When will you bring back epic 40k?
There were a surprising amount of questions about bringing back Epic Warhammer 40k. Whether it will happen or not now is anyone’s guess…
Question #8:
Q: Can you set up a reward scheme for recycling sprues and unwanted bits?
This is something other companies are doing with recyclable sprues. There is a ton of extra plastic on the sprues, and we’ve looked at how hard it is to actually recycle it (because of the plastic they use). To recycle their sprues, you must go to a refuse site that takes them, which is not very easy to find!
This would be a really cool idea, and we’d be all about it. Learn more about how to actually recycle sprues and the issues around it.
Question #9:
Q: Why do we pay so much extra for using our currencies?
This is another one we’ve talked about all the time. We won’t go into much detail here, but arbitrage is strong with GW, especially in places like NZ or Australia. But even in North America, we get hit fairly hard.
Question #10
Q: Let’s end on a high note: What is the wind speed velocity of a swallow?
European or African?
