Want more some inspiration for your next Warhammer game? Check out these 40k homebrew army lists that crushed it out last week at tournaments.

With so many tournaments happening across the world, we’re beginning to see a rise in homebrew lists that are turning up near the tops of tournament placings. Check out these recent lists and tell us what you think!

Using Best Coast Pairings, we’re able to look back at the events as if we were at there ourselves.

Slaughterfest: Imperial Knights- Junior Aflleje

We know what you’re thinking. “Knight lists aren’t unique at all…they’re everywhere”. While that’s true, this is the first time we’ve seen someone take a Valiant over the Castellan in terms of Dominus-Knight weight class. Honestly, we’re surprised we don’t see more of the Valiant on the tabletop. It’s got a flamer like nobody’s business and can one-shot most medium vehicles with its harpoon. After its two main weapons fire, it’s still got its shoulder goodies too!

But essentially, the Valiant ran interference mid-board with its flamer chasing down whatever was a problem along with the Gallant. Meanwhile, the Crusader hung back throwing down some decent dakka with the battle cannon and gatling cannon.

Finally, another Battalion of Guard was taken (making two total) with some indirect fire from an Emperor’s Wrath Vigilus formation Wyvern.

Great list!

Slaughterfest: Chaos Knights- Kenny Boucher

Kenny managed to come in 6th place with this list bringing some of the new Chaos Knight support to the table. With two Dreadblades rocking dual Gats and dual Battle cannons, it was like having two Crusader Knights on the field. To flesh out the Super Heavy detachment, he also brought in a Wardog with autocannons.

Looking at his CP battery, a Battalion of Red Corsairs was brought along full of Chaos Marines that were led by a Warpsmith and Sorcerer. And finally, three Red Corsair Lord Discos were brought in a Supreme Command detachment. Between the Discos running it down-field being covered by a hailstorm of Knight fire, this list did solid! It looks like this could be an early rendition of an anti-Daemon package chaos army that could take the meta by surprise.

GK Open: The Uno: Necrons- Michael Celeste

Starting off with this Necron list, a Battalion of Immortals were taken over Warriors because they don’t have to worry about leadership in groups of five. Also, the damage output with Tesla is insane value.

Next, an Overlord brought an Outrider detachment (not sure why it says spearhead) with some Destroyers and Tomb Blades. Destroyers are the All-star unit out of the codex with a turbo cheap Strat that lets the entire unit reroll all their dice against a single target. How could you not bring that along in your list? What’s even cooler is that this player also sprinkled in the dopest C’tan out there, the Nightbringer.

This guy is literal Death embodied and can bully anything that has a heartbeat in 40k.

Finally, for the anti-tank aspect of the list, a Gauss Pylon was taken. The Pylons are almost 500 pts each but have Macro D6 shots at S16 -4AP and D3+6 flat damage. The unit can’t move but it doesn’t need to as long as you wipe its threats off the table. Awesome list!

Overall, we’ve covered some pretty awesome lists this time around! While the armies use some kind of basic building block that we see in other lists, they all brought something totally unique.
