5 Big Chapter Approved 40k Points Drops Just Got Revealed!

Chapter-Approved-40k-wal-horWe saw some rumors, but these new Chapter Approved 40k Points drops are from the horse’s mouth- check out what’s changing!

Warhammer Community just unveiled some decent points drops for 5 different factions. They did cover some of what we’re in the rumors yesterday, so if you weren’t sure how real they were, well, now we know for sure.

Land Raiders look to be making a comeback with a big points drop, along with the Immortals winning out. Let’s jump into the changes!

GW Reveals 5 Chapter Approved Points Drops!

chapter approved 2021Hopefully, this helps as a midway point for the factions without a codex yet, because all the new books have been strong, like usual. If you want to see some of what the mission pack will change, check that out here. For now, let’s hop into the points.

Land Raider

land raider walAt 265 points INCLUDING their standard weapons (yes, really), Land Raiders of every variant and faction are in a much more competitive place within their respective Vehicle pools moving forward. What’s more, a Spearhead Detachment of these armoured behemoths isn’t out of the question anymore.

With the reduction in points and the changes to bring it down, this may be viable once again! Let’s hope so, because we know too many people who have sad Land Raiders just sitting on the shelf.

Storm Speeders

The three types of Storm Speeder – the Hailstrike, Hammerstrike, and Thunderstrike – are devastating mobile weapons platforms, with each variant representing a real boon to the arsenal of the Space Marines. What’s more, at a mere 135-160 points each, depending on your favoured brand of gunishment, they are likely to become quite the staple when it comes to fire support on the battlefield.

These were already seeing some play, but not the most effective unit in the book. But you know the Space Marines have to be on top. So we expect some even more points changes for them.

Immortals

ImmortalsNecron Immortals may be bigger and more heavily armed and armoured than Necron Warriors, but they’ve often been overlooked compared to their more numerous cousins on account of their high points cost. No longer! Coming in at a mere 4 points more per model than Necron Warriors, an army centred around a solid core of Immortals is now a perfectly competitive option.

Well this at least shows the “leaks” from yesterday really were rumors, as it only had them as 2 points more per model and not four. Still, this is a cool change for the Necrons, just giving them a little more flexibility in their troop choices.

Wraithguard and Wraithblades

Saim-Hann wraithguard eldarIf you’re a fan of the Iyanden Craftworld, you’re going to love this one. With Wraithguard having dropped to 35 points per model and Wraithblades to 37, you can field them in much greater numbers than before and watch as they silently and efficiently annihilate your enemies.

Eldar could always use the help! So even though these aren’t new minis, point drops are something. With them going down a decent amount, you can include even more of the wild wraith constructs.

Genestealers and Purestrain Genestealers

458px-GenestealerArtWhether they’re fighting as the vanguard of a Tyranid swarm or as the killer elite of a cult uprising, Genestealers are swift as a blur and utterly deadly. Now that they’re only 13 points per model – or 15 for the Purestrain variety – we’re sure the maximum unit size of 20 Genestealers is looking all the more tempting.

These have been a staple of Tyranid armies for basically ever. So dropping their points seems like a good idea and could maybe help the Nids regain some of that power.

Which drop are you most excited about? Will this tempt you to take your Land Raiders back to the table?
