An awesome Adeptus Custodes 40k army list emerged in a tournament recently that we just love- take a look at what it tried to accomplish!
9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking the opportunity to innovate and create unique lists. Check out these awesome homebrew lists that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and this just goes to show that it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play. It helps to have some cool interactions and ideas too.
Adeptus Custodes Take Flight: 40k Army List Of The Week
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
Clutch City GT: Adeptus Custodes- Colin Coons
This list is pretty straight forward, a decent Custode foot-force is meant to march up the board and grab objectives while the Air Support whittles down your opponents’ forces.
Just two Flyers make up the end of the list, however, don’t let the bare appearance fool you, this is half of the lists points.

The Ares Gunship has some giant weapons and in its first bracket has a 2+ BS, all while being hard to hit and supersonic. Meaning it zips around the field and is hard for the opponent to deal with, all while it’s raining hell on them. When they do manage to hit it, it’s T8 and has an invulnerable save making it extremely hard to damage effectively.
The Orion Assault Dropship is a little more expensive but has the upside of trading off bombing capabilities for a few transport slots. With what little foot-slogging troops this list has, it’s not a bad idea to protect some of them and place them more ideally somewhere on the battlefield so your flyers can put in the work on the enemy forces while the ground forces get the objectives. The Dropship also has the same hard to deal with abilities and similar punching one, although slightly lower without the bombs.
Either way, both flyers can (and did) do tons of work and carry lists on their own. Overall, this list offers a more unique approach to a list for this faction, better yet, Colin did pretty well at the event with it netting 3rd place. Congrats!
