The BAO ran over the weekend, and it looked to be a lot of tough competition. But, that didn’t stop Tau and Imperial Guard from making the top table.
Frontline Gaming did a live stream on Facebook yesterday of the final round top table, and it was a fight between the Paul McKelvey’s Tau and Brandon Grant’s Imperial Guard.

Paul Mckevley and Brandon Grant had a nice long match, calling it with only 7 minutes left on the play clock. The recent FAQ from Games Workshop nerfed the flyer heavy and razorflock lists we saw at ATC, so we weren’t sure what we were going to see at the top table this time. Let’s take a look at Paul’s Tau list.
Shooting definitely played a part in both of these players lists. Let’s take a look at what Brandon brought that got him to the top table, ultimately clinching a victory in the last round of the tournament.

The final results are not out yet, so we can not confirm he took home tournament champion. He did win it last year with his Blood Angels army.
The competition at the tournament level these, and many other, players are playing at is always going to be tough. With the latest drop of 8th edition hopefully Games Workshop is getting some good feedback on what still needs to be fixed to get the game even more balanced than it already is. They’ve been doing a great job listening to the community so far, so hopefully it continues.
What are your thoughts? Were you shocked to see Tau VS Imperial Guard at the top table at the Bay Area Open?
If you still fancy a competitive scene don’t forget Las Vegas Open is on the books for 2018.
