If you’re a fan of the grimmest and darkest of 40k artists, John Blanche, you’ll want to come see what a small group of dedicated hobbyists are doing to invoke the Blachitsu side of warhammer.
Think kill team is neat? Checkout this version of the venerable 54mm game that was very similar!
While, many have fallen in love with the sleek, ultra-futuristic look of Space Marines there has always been a gritty feel to the universe that sacrifices millions of souls to a half-dead deity.
Enter Inq28, which involves playing Inquisitor in 28mm scale, aims to encapsulate that and bring it to life on the table with a heavy focus on narrative and model building.
Similarly, the Pilgrym Project, started by Iron Sleet, is encouraging hobbyists to create their own warbands to take part in a campaign set on Terra, which, in my opinion is the bleakest of planets in the 40k universe.
The community has even recruited John Blanche himself to create new artwork specifically for the project. The culmination of all campaigns happened at Warhammer World this Summer.
Becoming involved in the Inq28 community has certainly elevated my interest in the hobby to levels higher than they have ever been in the 18+ years I have been playing the game,” said Long War Veteran, Adam Weir, brought the movement to our attention. It is a side of the hobby that is more focused on narrative and model building than competitive play.
If you’re looking to dive deep into the Hobby this is how you do it, the community is out there; waiting to drag you, kicking and screaming if that’s your thing, into the grim, dark, future.
