BREAKING- Deathwatch & Space Wolves Allocations Slashed to Shreds

new-releases-gw-space-wolves-deathwatchIf you were looking forward to next week’s Deathwatch and Space Wolves, you may want to read this because they have been severely allocated.

If you want to support your local store, you better get in line early! GW has been fairly stingy with the new releases as of late, either due to COVID complications or just a new business strategy. We just don’t know.

One thing is for sure, the allocation to each store is not very large at all.

That then begs the question, how many will actually be in the online store? Some of the new minis are already sold out, so it doesn’t bode well. Seems strange to build all the hype and then not be able to bring us the minis. Maybe the scarcity factor is just another way to build the hype? Let’s see the numbers though.

For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week, and take a look at how many of each will be available:

Deathwatch Codex Supplement $30

deathwatch supplementTheir new codex supplement is the ultimate book for anyone interested in the Deathwatch in the Era Indomitus. It includes a detailed background section and Chapter-specific rules that build on those in Codex: Space Marines so that you can field this Chapter on the tabletop. It also features bespoke Crusade rules and new Kill Teams – no matter what alien threat you are facing, you’ll be able to purge them.

This is all about Deathwatch however based on the verbiage here, you’ll need the base Space Marine codex to play them fully.

Deathwatch Cards & Dice $35 for Dice/$15 for Cards

Deathwatch Combat Patrol $140

deathwatch start collectingThis is the first in a range of releases that include a Combat Patrol-sized force straight out of the box – whether you want to start a Deathwatch army or add to an existing one, this box is an ideal way to do it.

Given the nature of Deathwatch kill teams, hopefully, the sprues provide enough kit loadout options.

Space Wolves Codex Supplement $30

Just like with Deathwatch, it looks like you’ll need the base Space marine codex as well in order to play this army fully.

So How Many New Releases Are Stores Getting?

How many minis going to storesAll other items include quite a large list! At least 8 of each codex will be going to stores. Again, it just seems strange to not give the stores more right now. With COVID having been so hard on game stores, it just seems like they could throw them some more support.

Let’s take a look at all the releases specifically:

All the Releases

Store AllocationIf you want any of the items above, and plan on getting them from your store, get there on day one. Two of anything usually doesn’t last long. While the Combat patrol boxes aren’t a crazy value, check out the value here, they are still wanted by a ton of players.

Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the online side of things. Because from this, stores here in the states aren’t getting very much of anything!

What do you think about the small allocation to stores? Will you be picking any of these releases up?
