Buy now or pay later! Shapeways is raising the price of bits on their site soon and Pop Goes the Monkey is letting you know by how much!
The creative team at Pop Goes The Monkey has announced that at the start of May that the price of their quality bits are going to change. The good news is that not all the prices are rising! Let’s take a look.
According to PGtM:
It’s not all bad. There are some items that will drop a fair amount. Others are “jetpacking” in the opposite direction. Expect a major re-pricing to happen at my store in May.
As you can see some prices have gone up substantially, some only a little, and some have actually gone down. Click here for the Full List Of Changes.
Why is the price going up?
There’s a reason behind the price hike. With 3D printing getting more and more popular every day, the demand also increases. Multiple companies and people turn to Shapeways to print their items so space is limited.
POP Goes the Monkey is known for printing custom bits on sprues. An entire sprue is thin, but it takes up a large footprint. Coming from a business standpoint, the sprue is taking up a lot of real estate in the printer because of how wide it is. Because it takes more space, it’s going to cost more to make as the demand for 3D printings is growing.
Steps are being taken between Matt Sweitzer and Shapeways to continue to bring affordable bits to you hobby maniacs We’ll be sure to fill you in on whatever happens.
Are dark times ahead for the commercial 3D printing market as we know it? It may be time to get your orders in NOW for your favorite bits to ensure you have enough for the new pricing transition in May.
