Callidus Assassin: Shapeshifters of the Emperor

Why Taking a Callidus Assassin Is Starting to Make SenseCallidus Assassin lore is obviously shrouded in mystery, but what is known is just how effective and deceptive they are!

Amidst the ceaseless war, corruption, and heresy that threaten the Imperium of Man, the Callidus Temple stands as a formidable weapon in the hands of the Emperor’s enforcers. Selected from the ranks of orphaned infants and subjected to an arduous and brutal training regimen, these assassins emerge as living weapons, capable of assuming any identity, infiltrating even the most fortified bastions, and eliminating high-value targets with ruthless precision.

Callidus Assassin Lore: Shapeshifters of the Emperor

callidusCallidus’s Assassins are the most clever of all temple disciples. Their greatest strength is their ability to use the shape-changing drug Polymorphine. Callidus agents are able to alter their appearance by using this drug and through rigorous and special training. Meh’Lindi, one the most clever agents ever, was able to impersonate the Genestealer Hybrid at least twice in her career. However, she had to undergo additional surgery to complete her illusion. Still, if one can turn into a Genestealer Hybrid, they can transform into basically anything.

This allows them to get close to their targets, both unseen and unmolested. They are able to manipulate the plans of the enemy and assassinate main targets at the best time for maximum disruption. They can turn entire battleplans or simply take out one target, whatever the mission calls for.

The most notable contribution of the temple has to be the assassination of Primarch Konrad Curze, aka Night Haunter, by M’Shen. There is much debate around this as he let her intrusion go unblocked. He welcomed death as a way to prove his rebellion was justified.

What is the Purpose of the Callidus Temple?

Callidus AssassinThe Callidus Temple serves the Imperium of Man as a covert arm of its defense. They are tasked with eliminating high-priority targets, infiltrating enemy organizations, and disrupting plots against the Imperium.

What Equipment & Weapons Do the Callidus Assassins Use?

callidus assassin walApart from being highly skilled in martial arts, Callidus Assassins are also well-trained in many forms of weapons and espionage. They don’t normally carry any other weapons other than those easy to conceal (digital weapons are common as they can be hidden in the smallest of objects).

Do not think, though, that they need weapons; even unarmed, they can kill with one touch. They use other overt weapons, such as the Phase Sword and Poison Blades, when the situation calls for more force or to get something done quickly. Callidus Assassins can also use Death Cards to psychologically attack enemies, but no matter what weaponry they show up with, you are done for when they arrive.

What Sets the Callidus Temple Apart From Other Assassins in Warhammer 40k?

The Callidus Temple is distinguished by their unparalleled abilities in disguise and subterfuge. They can assume the appearance and even the memories of their targets, making them nearly impossible to detect until it’s too late.
