Containing a Star Eater: Tesseract Vault Lore

Tesseract Vault is the massive construct that holds the Transcendent C’tan prisoners- it’s no easy feat to contain a god!

It is a constant battle to keep a Transcendent C’tan captive, if it were easy all the kids would be doing it! It takes an army of Scarabs and Sentinels to keep them in check, but if they were to slack, who knows what would happen. Let’s all get out our best electronic blankets and pretend we’re being held by Necrons as we learn about some lore!

Prisoners of Old

If you know anything about the Necrons, you know they long ago won (maybe?) the battle with the C’tan. Well, is being immortal and metal better than all fleshy and weak? Depends on your point of view. Anyways, they needed a way to keep the more powerful shards in check. The Tesseract Vault was the option they settled on.

They only make these for the shards that are too powerful for the Tesseract Labyrinth. The power of these amalgamated shards would send the whole thing into a meltdown. The Necrons aren’t dumb and they realized such powerful assets should be used. Thus the vaults both imprison their ancient foe and help channel their power as well.

A Constant Fight

In the center of each vault lies a powerful Star Vampire constantly vying for its freedom. If you thought they just sit in there and twiddle their thumbs, you’d be wrong! Do they even have thumbs? Maybe that’s why they lost… They push with all their might against the indestructible (well for humans) walls, constantly cracking and breaking off small sections.

Every vault is watched over by an army of attendants, including Canoptek Leech Guardians and Scarabs. They constantly fix the crumbling walls that contain the insane energy at bay. They even use some kind of dark force fields to help keep the walls intact.

If it weren’t for the constant supervision, the walls would eventually break down and the Transcendent would roam free. They reuse and affix the metal walls endlessly, so nothing ever changes. The material breaks off and the tireless Scarabs reattach it, a long battle of attrition still won by the metal men.

A Machine of Deadly Power

Obviously, they don’t just let the C’tan sit idle in the prisons. When you’ve spent so much time and effort containing such energy, you have to use it somehow! When unleashed the C’tan inside is a force unlike any other. It can set entire armies ablaze or simply turn them to dust! How do control it on the field? With cables and conduits obviously. It’s all too complicated for your tiny mortal brain to understand! But the Imperium has been on the brunt end of quite a few such terrifying attacks!

That does it for these crazy vaults, just pray you don’t see one opening up on a planet near you!
