Craftworld and Harlequins are two popular factions we’re seeing on the competitive tables in 8th edition. But are you playing all of their rules correctly?

A well-versed tactician on Reddit posted a comprehensive list of some of the nuances and rules most people get wrong in their factions they play. We’re going to be looking specifically at the Craftworlds and Harlequins.

Craftworld Rules You Might be Getting Wrong

  • The Wave Serpent’s shield only works for ranged weapons and “turns off” after it’s been discharged.
  • Warp Spiders are incredibly mobile being able to move 4D6 with the Warp Jump Generators. They can also shoot after falling back with this. The only thing they can’t do is charge.
  • Looking at Psychic powers, The Runes of Battle buff abilities can only be cast on Infantry and Bikers.Hemlock Wraithfighter
  • Hemlocks are Psykers and can Cast/Deny 1. However, they can only know Runes of Battle powers and only cast the debuff version.
  • Warlocks are only two-wound HQs. If you take them on a Bike, they get upgraded to three wounds.

Harlequins Rules You May Want to Look Over

  • Harlequins “basically” have a faction-wide rule called Rising Crescendo. This is what gives Harlequins their speed. They ignore certain nuances of the game. For example, You can move, advance, and still charge with a unit in a single turn. You can also shoot after you advance, but only if your models are using assault weapons.

  • Voidweavers and Starweavers don’t have Rising Crescendo (surprisingly) which means that they can’t advance and charge. However, they do have fly so you’re still able to fall back and shoot.
  • Speaking of Starweavers, they’re incredibly fast by auto-advancing 6″ on top of a 16″ movement. Don’t bother rolling your advance dice!
  • As for the Skyweaver bikes, you’re able to really do whatever you want! They have Rising Crescendo and are one of the fastest (if not the fastest) biker unit in the game not to mention their firepower…

With two more factions down on rules you may have gotten wrong, check back with us later for even more coverage. If you’re wanting to get a deeper look at the faction’s rules, we suggest heading over to the Reddit post and reading everything yourself!
