Jason’s winning Tau was led by two Coldstar Commanders for some mobile models with fantastic ranged firepower alongside a slightly slower, more durable Enforcer variant. There is also an Ethereal to help generate CP each round.

Next, three units of Starscythe Battlesuits are durable ranged threats that will fire a lot of shots every turn.

Two Ghostkeels bring in even more durable ranged models, this time being more dense solo models. Those are followed by a unit of Kroot Carnivores for cheap bodies and a unit of Pathfinders to pair with the ethereal.

Two Piranhas are some cheap mobility options, while two Riptides bring in even more large, fully dedicated ranged threats that must be answered, or they will in theory shoot all the larger enemy threats off the board.

Finally, three units of Stealth Battlesuits bring in cheaper models that are also just good at clearing chaff, thanks to all the burst cannons they bring in.

There you have it: the top Warhammer 40k army lists from the Dicehammer Open were ruled by Tau, Chaos Knights, and Eldar.

Jason’s army, with its sturdy and ranged-focused units, was able to take down even the toughest opponents once they got in range.  Overall, this week’s army lists provide valuable insights for aspiring and veteran Warhammer 40k players alike who study them.
