40k Emperor’s Children Index Rules Totally Don’t Hint At New Codex

fulgrim slaanesh wal hor titleGW promised the Warhammer 40k index rules for Emperor’s Children, and they are delivering right ahead of the new Chaos Codex.

While the index might be small this time around, we hope this means they will get the full codex treatment in the near future. Three of the four main Chaos Legion already have their own codex book (think of what happened in 9th with World Eaters), and this is the exciting first step towards a Codex Emperor’s Children!

Here is the latest on the Emperor’s Children index from Warhammer Community.

Emperor's Children Index Rules

For reasons beyond our ken, it appears that the Emperor’s Children have chosen to keep their toys to themselves…

Well, this isn’t GW really confirming the codex, but we’ll take it as a possible sign for more! However, it doesn’t seem like they put a ton into the index, as it’s mainly just rules for two units, and you’ll still need the Chaos Space Marines codex to play.

Alright, so they are missing detachment rules and stratagems, but no worries – you can just grab them from the new CSM codex. This means you can finally bring out those Noise Marines and Lucius. Let the chaos begin!

Index Rules

You can select any detachment from the CSM codex, but you have to pick Slaanesh for all your marks. They still keep Dark Pacts, and Lucius must be included and must be your Warlord- sheesh.

Lucius The Eternal Rules

He’s got a killer profile, loads of attacks, strikes first, and he’s your go-to guy for wiping out infantry. Plus, if your opponent manages to take him down, he dishes out a bunch of mortal wounds and might just come back for more if he’s feeling vengeful enough.

Seems like he’s got two career paths: Noise Marines or Legionaries. Tough choices, right?

Noise Marines Rules

Like most Chaos Marines, they have a lot of weapon options, but the Sonic Blasters are the key here. They get a bunch of shots with decent strength but no AP. Then, the Blastmaster is like a strong missile launcher; you can choose a unit to take a Battle-shock test after being hit by this unit.

However, with Fight First (if led by Lucius), their chainswords might come in handy, and there is no need to worry about music blasting the enemy then.

Emperor's Children Index Rules 6You can replace every boltgun with a sonic blaster and chainsword, but unfortunately, you can only get one Blastmaster, whether you have five or ten models in the squad.

It’s exciting to see the updates for the Emperor’s Children (even if it’s a small one), and we can only hope that this is a sign of more good things to come, like hopefully a 10th Edition codex!
