This week he is doing something a little different. He’s painting up a marine for the Fabulous Marines 2022: The Trevor Project, which is all about inclusivity in the hobby and a fundraiser to end suicide among LGBTQ people, you can also donate here to the project here through YouTube.

Let’s check it out!

Fabulous Marines 2022: Gobbertown Hobbies

Fabulous Marines 2This was the Marine he painted up last year, and it will be hard to beat because, come on, powerfist finger guns! Let’s see what he comes up with this year. Remember, this is all about the Trevor Project, you can donate and learn more about the project here.

Converting the Model

Fabulous Marines 3He originally wanted to do a biker but didn’t have the exact one he wanted. So, he actually converted up this bike and threw away some of the lore because it says you can’t have female heads and ended up going with a female Drukhari head!

Painting the Model

Fabulous Marines 4Just to note, since this is more about getting the minis for the project, the painting tutorial isn’t super in-depth, but it’s still just as cool! To start he sprays the whole model purple with a lighter zenithal highlight. Paints all the wheels black, white where he wants rainbows, gray for the wiring, and tan for the cloak. For the bike, he then does another layer of Reaper Amethyst Purple and the armor with purple from Vallejo and finally Blue from Vallejo for the trim.

Then, for all the rainbows, he uses Pro Acryl colors.

Fabulous Marines 5He treats the purity seals as flags and streamers. Next up, he does black lining for all the joints and armor plates. It’s painstaking, but it looks great! The only place he uses a wash is on the cloak and finishes it with a Soft Tone from Army Painter.

Fabulous Marines 6For the face, he used Jasper Skin and a little bit of Vallejo Flat Flesh for the highlights. To highlight the bike, he mixed the original purple with a light color and highlighted the entirety of the bike.

How Does the Project Work?

Fabulous Marines 7The fundraiser helps the Trevor Project which is a crisis hotline for young people in the LGBTQ community. Adolescence is already hard enough, and this really helps young people get through those hard times. You can donate and learn more about the project here.

Finishing the Model Up

Fabulous Marines 8He actually uses a black micron pen to write in the date, draw in the grading on the headlights, and then finishes the armor with a light purple highlight.

Fabulous Marines 9To finish it all off, he puts it on a base with some Gamer Grass tufts.

Finished Model

Fabulous Marines 10This was a fun one and hopefully will help raise awareness, and remember, to be good to each other!
