Games Workshop Opening Webstore For Some Countries

ready-to-order-gw-primaris-wal-horGames Workshop just announced that they will be opening up their webstore to hobbyists in select countries tomorrow on May 1st. Here’s the latest!

Warhammer Community gave us a deeper look into the plans that’ll be unfolding Friday, May 1st, which is when they mentioned earlier that they would be opening up their webstore for orders once again.

There is a lot to cover so here’s a break down of the highlights.

There’s Going to Be a Queue in Place

Duardin Army fyreslayers age of sigmarWhen you go on their webstore, depending on how busy it is, there could be a queue in place. After the entire world has been deprived of its plastic crack for weeks, you can pretty much guarantee there will be a constant queue. WHC mentioned how it’ll all work.

The queue is set up so access will be on a first come, first served basis and will appear as a holding page that will let you know how long your wait will likely be. It’ll remember your place too, so you can wander off to brew yourself a nice cup of recaff, take a wander around your living room or count your paints… and your place in the queue will remain secure.

Once your turn comes, you’ll have as long as you need to browse the site and get through the checkout. So long as you’re active on the site, you can stay as long as you want. If, however, you wander off from the site for over 30 minutes, you’ll need to rejoin the queue to kick-off a new session. Likewise, if you just sit there for more than 30 minutes doing nothing at all, like a sunbathing Slann Starmaster on a lazy Sunday, you’ll also need to rejoin the queue.

We don’t know what the queue time will look like for people once it opens up. However, you can stay as long as you’d like as long as you’re active. Out of courtesy for everyone else waiting, we recommend you make a list of the things you want to get. That way it’s quicker for you to order and you won’t forget anything.

Not Everyone Will Be Able to Place an Order

bloodthirster wal horThis is going to come as a sad bit of news, but not everyone will be able to place an online order depending on their geographical location. Here is the breakdown of who can/can’t order:

Countries That CAN Order:

countries that can order

Countries That CAN’T Order

countries that cant orderThat’s right. Anyone in these five countries won’t be able to order online just yet.

There’s A Buy Limit On Popular Items

hobby walDue to expected high demand for certain things, we will be limiting sales of some items to 3 per order. This is to make sure that everyone can get hold of the essentials they need.

limit on select itemsThey’re pretty smart for doing this. Just to keep some people with deep pockets from buying up everything like Prophecy of the Wolf and sought-after paints, they’re limiting them to three per order. Now, Prophecy of the Wolf has TWO new models in it so if we had to make a bet, this will probably disappear almost instantly.

For the people who aren’t able to order just yet, GW thought ahead and left this message:

If you live in one of the territories that isn’t opening up again just yet – we’re putting some of these items to one side for you ready for when your webstore is back up and running too.

How Shipping Is Going to Work

gw store opening 3For starters, it’s only natural to expect slower shipping times. With fewer people in the warehouses and the mail system already bogged down with everything going on in the world, we should be understanding of a few extra days-worth of shipping times.

On top of longer shipping times, you won’t be able to use the Ship to Store option. Mainly because different parts of the world are more heavily Impacted by the Crisis than others. To cut down on the moving parts of shipping to open stores, workers sorting the packages, and having you drive to meet them, GW will only be shipping directly to your home address. However, GW is also offering a free shipping incentive to some locations

For those of you in territories where you’d normally be able to order to your local Warhammer store, and they aren’t currently open, we are lowering the Free Standard Shipping threshold on orders by 50%.

So in the UK, for example, eligible orders over £20 will ship, free of charge, to your home.

While it might be a big bummer to Countries that won’t be able to order anything online, the silver lining is that GW is back up and running. That’s a big improvement from where we were just weeks ago when they had no plans in sight to re-open.
