40k: Sisters of Battle Win Goonhammer Open GT, Top Army Lists

3rd Place: Steven Fitch – Blood Angels
2nd Place Army List Goonhammer Open GT: Joshua Campbell – Chaos Daemons
1st Place: Tony Phillips – Sisters of Battle
Tony’s list was led by a Canoness for a solid seraphim unit lead, a Dialogus for Act of Faith and Battleshock support, Morvenn Vahl for being a combat monster and re-rolls, followed by Triumph of Saint Katherine for some pretty good aura support. The only battleline unit is a single Battle Sisters squad.
Transports bring three Immolators for their melta shots, along with the benefit of being able to carry units during the early turns. Two Castigators act as more armored-range threats, this time bringing in chaff-clearing weapons.
A Dominion squad acts as a solid set of decent bodies with the benefit of getting a free miracle dice, while a Paragon unit pairs up with Morvenn Vahl for a huge melee threat. Three Seraphim units act as some cheaper mobility picks that can zip around the board and help or chip away were needed.
The list then closes on a Novitiate Squad to help round out points and add a few more decent enough ranged bodies.
There you have it: the top Warhammer 40k army lists from the Goonhammer Open GT were ruled by Sisters of Battle, Daemons, and Blood Angels.
Tony’s Sisters of Battle army came out on top thanks to its focus on ranged firepower. They brought in lots of great ranged weapons and even had room for the faction’s strongest melee option point-for-point. Overall, studying these army lists offers some insight for newer Warhammer 40k players and pros alike.
