A lot of hobbyists may have seen this coming after the Beast Snagga Army Box, but GW has allocated the new Grey Knights and Thousand Sons.
Looks like allocations are back for this week’s releases in general, and unfortunately, hobbyists out there will be scrambling for this early access to the new characters in the Hexfire battle box set.
For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week, and then take a look at how many of each will be available, and round it up with our thoughts on the matter.
Hexfire Box $170
Grapple for the world of Hexenfast with this magical battlebox, which is packed with 29 miniatures – the brand-new Infernal Master, five Scarab Occult Terminators, 10 Tzaangors (complete with upgrade sprues) and a Tzaangor Shaman for the Thousand Sons, and a fresh incarnation of the legendary Castellan Crowe, 10 Grey Knights Purifiers (which can also be built as a Strike Squad, Interceptor Squad, or Purgation Squad), and a hulking Nemesis Dreadknight for the Grey Knights.
Besides being a long-anticipated release, this is also the only place you can get two new exclusive models in the form of the Infernal Master and a new Castellan Crowe.
Codex: Grey Knights $50
Codex: Grey Knights has all the rules for the 666th Chapter – including no fewer than 32 datasheets – updated for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, as well as heaps of lore. It also contains Grey Knights Crusade rules which allow your Characters to discover and battle their own Daemon nemeses.
Everyone’s favorite Daemon slayers are coming in hot in the 9th edition, hopefully, they land with a splash and shake up the meta!
Codex: Thousand Sons $50
Codex: Thousand Sons will be available in standard hardback and a beautiful collector’s edition. This awe-inspiring book has everything you’d expect, including fully updated rules for the 41st Millennium’s premier magic users, a bespoke Crusade system, stunning artwork, and intriguing lore.

If you have the spooky bois already, you can pick up their accessories this week.

And to top it all off, there’s a matching Pitch and Dugouts set to leave nobody in any doubt about your team allegiance.
Grey Knights & Thousand Sons Allocated By GW
Listed to the right of each product are the 40k allocations numbers (called “caps” now from GW) to stores from Games Workshop North America.
There is some good news this time, as the Hexfire box has a slightly higher allocation than the Beast Snagga box set did. Hopefully, this means whoever wants them can get them and the secondary market scalpers leave this release alone!
- Hexfire Box Set: Cap 5
- Codex Books: Cap 15
- Accessories: Cap 5
- Necromunda Items: Cap 1
But, other than that, the allocations are 50/50 for the rest of this week’s items.
Overall it’s better than before, but still not great. At least this time we didn’t only have negative news to report!
What do you think of these 40k allocations from Games Workshop? Good, bad, or more of the same?
